My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer yesterday.
I am so freaked that I can barely sit still. All I want to do is lie down and cry. My dad, on the other hand, is very stoic, and plans to go back to work as soon as possible. (I don't know how feasible that's going to be since he's going to be in chemo for 8 weeks, and has a surgery planned on Monday.)

Pace is the Trick
My husband and I drove to New Orleans on Sunday night to see my favorite band, Interpol. Interpol were simply incredible. They played "The Heinrich Maneuver" and I screamed like a 12-year old girl. They played a lot of stuff from the new CD, and I loved it all (even the songs I didn't particularly care for before then.)
Jack is doing well, even though he's been quarantined from the other cats for the time being. His fecal and combo tests were negative, and I'm just waiting for work to get the vaccines I requested to come in so I can vaccinate the little guy. His leg is doing so much better; he hardly limps on it at all (he had a brachial plexus avulsion.) All kittens are cute, but Jack seems to be especially adorable. He purrs all the time (even when he's drinking) and it's so loud that I can hear him across the room.
My mom is back at work after her stroke a couple of weeks ago, and I think my dad is back at work, too -he had walking pneumonia for a while, during which they found an "infiltration" on one of the x-rays of his lungs. They did a brachioscopy on him (I think that's the term) and found nothing out of the ordinary, but took samples for biopsies, so we'll see what those say. My parents are falling apart at the seams.

Hat Size
It seems I'm turning into one of those lousy bloggers who update their sites once a month or so. Unfortunately, there just isn't a whole lot going on here that's worth blogging about; the family is still strong, and I continue to love my job.
We did add a new member to the family, in the form of one Captain Jack Sparrow, named because they both have a similar gait.
